Preparing for Worship on Sunday October 2, 2016 - a preview

Tomorrow we continue in the current teaching series from the Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew Chapter 5.

Tomorrow's message:    “Blessed are the pure in heart, they shall see God.”

Each week we prepare an order of worship.  At the top of this order is found a passage a scripture from Proverbs 16:1 GNT    "We make our plans, but God has the last word."

Here are the songs we have selected for tomorrow's worship:

I plan to bring a scriptural call to worship followed by a time to stand and sing to the Lord:

At our time to bring the Lord's tithe and our offering to God - the Cancel Choir will minister in song:
(Note: This is not our choir - I hope you will come experience the choir singing this song.)

Then we make our confess to the Lord in song:

We thank God for the sacrifice of His Son Jesus for us.
Jesus died for my soul to save.....

The sermon is prepared for this Sunday at Gastonia First Wesleyan Church.

The powerpoints are prepared and the outline is being printed and placed in the worship folders this morning. I am so psyched about preaching this Sunday.

I struggled for days with this message and God gave me clarity yesterday as I prepared the manuscript and outline for Sunday.

Hope you will join us this Sunday and bring a friend who may need this message.

I already feel lead to give a clear invitation for salvation and I pray God will give us fruit for our labor and the message would not fall upon closed ears or minds.

Come prepared to meet with the LORD.

Here is an example of the pure in heart that I decided not to include in my message, but make a great point.

A couple from Bakersfield, CA purchased a new boat, but they were having serious problems. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t get the boat going. It was sluggish no matter which way they turned or how much power was applied. After an hour of trying to make it go, they putted to a nearby marina, hoping someone could tell them what was wrong. A thorough check on the topside of the boat revealed everything was in perfect working condition. The engine ran fine, the out drive went up and down, and the propeller was the correct size and pitch. Then, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check underneath. He came up choking w/ laughter. Under the boat, still strapped securely in place, was the trailer!

Note: Ridiculous! But not more ridiculous than the many believers are puttering around wondering why their Christian life isn’t working – it’s simple, they have sin attached beneath the surface of their lives that needs to be removed.

Join us tomorrow morning and hear the insight I do have to share.
