How BIG is God - Part one

I am so psyched about the new teaching series I began last Sunday at NRN. I have received several encouraging comments about this series already. Last Sunday several people made spiritual decisions at the close of our worship experience.

Due to a technical problem in the sound booth the sermon was not recorded. I thought I would summarize last week's message and preview tomorrow's message with this posting.

The series:

Last week's message: How BIG is God?

An Introduction: When we see God.

What happens when we see God clearly?

Isaiah 6:1-8

Seeing God clearly begins with CONFUSION

In the year that King Uzziah died…

Seeing God clearly results in CONFESSION

I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory."
At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. "Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty."

Seeing God clearly results in CHANGE

Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for."

Seeing God clearly results in COMMITMENT

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

I concluded the message with this simple challenge:

On the first Sunday of the year list anything that you need to confess, change, or commit to…

Tomorrow - Sunday January 10th 2010 - we will continue in this teaching series.

I plan to present Part 2: How Big is God? - Big Enough To Trust

We plan to begin the worship set with one of my favorite songs:
