When The Mic Died

During the recent ice hockey game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and NHL’s Nashville Predators, there was a technical glitch while Michelle Madeira (winner of Mississauga Future Stars’ fifth annual competition in 2008) sang “The Star Spangled Banner.”
Rather than wait to have the sound system repaired, the fans in the Canadian arena united together immediately to continue the U.S. national anthem.

It was a beautiful moment and demonstrated the powerful impact of teamwork – only the “team” in this case was off the ice.

Afterwards, according to the Toronto Star, the fans continued in the spirit of camaraderie as they sang “O Canada.”
