And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make
you free
- John 8:32
Has there ever been a time in your life when truth was
revealed and you believed it without a doubt even though you had no proof at
that moment but in time it was proven true?
As I meditated on John 8:32 some interesting thoughts
came to mind on the subject of truth and freedom about God's offer of salvation
for everyone.
Salvation is a very complex subject that many great minds
have debated about for centuries and it's not always so easy to understand its
depth, but Jesus said that it's simple enough that a child could understand and
believe.
I believe God has already placed the ability to exercise
real faith for salvation within each of us. Let's look at some scriptures that
show this is true and not just my personal opinion.
So God created man in His own image; in the
image of God He created him; male and female He created them - Genesis 1:27
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He
has put eternity in their hearts -Ecclesiastes 3:11
For since the creation of the world His
invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things
that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are
without excuse - Romans 1:20
Of all the living creatures God has ever created, people
and the angels are the only ones who have been given the ability to choose Him
of our own free will or reject and ignore him altogether.
We think that we are in complete and total control of our
lives. But life has a way of reminding us this is not always true. We all have
free will and each choice or decision made by us affects others' lives regardless
if we are aware of it or not.
It's a sacrifice to place our trust in the finished work
of Jesus Christ for salvation but the benefits out way the risks in light of
eternity.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness - Galatians 5:22
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the
heavenly places in Christ - Ephesians 1:3
Salvation is a choice that only we can make for
ourselves. This gift was given by Jesus and is waiting for you to respond by
faith to reap its benefits.
