Three
times a year, Israelites from all over Israel journeyed to Jerusalem to observe
the so-called pilgrimage feasts: Passover in the spring, Pentecost in early
summer, and Tabernacles in the fall. At these feasts, all Israel gathered to
worship the Lord together as his united people. Worshippers traveled together
in groups for safety. As they drew near to Jerusalem, they sang songs together
in anticipation of the celebration that was to take place. This collection of
songs, known as the Songs of Ascent, we know as Psalms 120-134.
In preparation for worship - join in and prepare your heart for worship as you sing:
Begin by singing LOUD to the LORD;
Begin to fill your heart with thanks to the LORD:
Now humble your heart before the LORD as you partake in communion.
That
is what Scripture means where it says, “Abraham believed God. God accepted
Abraham because he believed. So his faith made him right with God.” (Genesis 15:6) And that’s not all. God called
Abraham his friend.
Open your heart to receive the WORD of the LORD!
