Preparing for Christ’s return requires growing in faithfulness to God. As the return of Christ draws near, Scripture promises that we will face opposition to our faith, both from Satan and from other people. As we seek to fight against these forces and stand firm in our faith, we must look to the One who is perfect in faithfulness. God’s faithfulness relates to His trustworthiness and commitment to His children and the promises He has made them.
"Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the
Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you; and
that we will be rescued from perverse and evil men; for not all have faith. But
the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.
We have confidence in the Lord concerning you that you are doing and will
continue to do what we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into the love
of God and into the steadfastness of Christ." 2 Thessalonians 3: 1–5
What does it mean to be "fighting"?
Here is a portion of the example I gave:
Tony
and Elizabeth Jordan have it all – great jobs, a beautiful daughter, and their
dream house. Be appearances can be deceiving. Tony and Elizabeth Jordan’s world
is actually crumbling under the strain of a failing marriage. While Tony basks
in his professional success and flirts with temptation, Elizabeth resigns
herself to increasing bitterness. But their lives take an unexpected turn when
Elizabeth meets her newest client, Miss Clara, and is challenged to establish a
“war room” and battle plan for prayer for her family. The war is raging and
Elizabeth receives word that her husband Tony is facing temptation. She goes to
her “war room” and goes into battle with Satan through prayer and the
Word.
This
is a turning point in the movie WAR ROOM
– get ready to rumble!
Please excuse the closing invite to view the movie ... I was able to show the complete scene at church today - but due to copyright not able to post it here.
