We come to the place in our worship to hear announcements about our opportunities to serve the Lord and fellowship together - then - to give to the Lord. The purpose of presenting our tithes and offerings to the Lord are to demonstrate that God has first place in our lives. All we have come from God and it is good to bring our offering to the Lord. Here is what the Bible says about our giving:
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 ESV
