Where do we go from here?

I am so happy that the TV has no more political commercials.  YEA!  Today President -Elect Trump will be meeting President Obama at the White House as the transition begins. Some people are elated, some couldn’t be angrier, and many will be scared to death.

Where do we go from here? Don’t be surprised . . . many will respond with frustration, anger, revolt, accusations, name calling, threats, violence, and so on.

May it not be for those who claim to follow Jesus. Ours should be the opposite response.

Please, if you claim to follow Jesus . . .

• Pray for our new president. This is not an option; it is a biblical command. Pray for wisdom, humility, clarity, discernment, dependency on God’s leading, and to be surrounded by wise and godly counsel.

• Pray for our country . . . that we could somehow heal from this long, ugly, political battle and find common ground moving forward. (A house divided against itself cannot stand.) Pray that we will move in the direction of God’s heart and His principles. Pray for protection from enemies within and without.

• Win or lose, be gracious and resolve that your faith, and your brothers and sisters in Jesus, is of greater value than a political decision. For the sake of the kingdom, bury your hatchets, and rally around what is of eternal significance.

Determine that regardless of who the president is, Jesus is your Lord, and representing Him is your highest priority.

Make a difference in your world. Serve the people in your spheres of influence and be an example of humility, integrity, and great leadership.

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”                                                                                                                                    1 Timothy 2:1-2
